Room 15

Dear Room 15 Families,

I’m really excited to start another school year here at Heath! Fourth grade is a year of big changes. Students are becoming more independent, yet still need plenty of support with completing the many projects this year will bring. Students are moving beyond "learning to read" and are now "reading to learn." We'll explore many things: volcanoes, fractions, building electric circuits, and the historical events that shaped California into the great state we enjoy today. I’m not saying it will be easy, but it will be worth it!

I’d like to introduce myself to you and give you some background about myself. I started teaching here at Heath in 1994 after I completed my teaching credential at San Diego State University. I’m originally from San Diego. I have three children: Matthew, Allison, and Rebecca. Matt attended BPUSD schools and works as an aerospace engineer; Ally and Rebecca are in high school. Ally takes her studies seriously and enjoys learning American Sign Language. Becca is really excited to be a part of South Hills High School's marching band, so much of my time is spent driving her around to practices, tournaments, and fundraising events. When I do get some free time, I like to travel. We enjoy everything from road trips to big vacations, Ventura to Vienna!

Here’s to a fabulous year!

Your partner in learning,

Ms. Kathy Ellebrecht
